Watermelon is a classic favorite during the summer. It’s refreshing, sweet flavor hits the spot on a hot day by the water! But did you know watermelon has amazing medicinal properties too?
Watermelon is very cooling which helps cool you off when you feel hot. It helps rehydrate and moisten the skin and intestines. It is also a natural diuretic.
Watermelon can be used to treat thirst, edema, kidney and urinary tract inflammation, cancer sores, and even depression. It is advised to speak to your doctor first if you have one of these conditions.
Caution: Those with a weak digestion, anemic, or have excessive/ uncontrolled urination should not eat watermelon.
If you have a tendency to feel cold, eat watermelon in small amounts (1 cup per day) or only consume when exposed to hot temperatures.
