Acupuncture General Knowledge

What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture relieves pain, promotes healing, and addresses a wide range of health problems. It is an effective form of healthcare and has evolved into a comprehensive and holistic medical system. Practitioners of acupuncture and Chinese medicine use this noninvasive medical system to diagnose common complaints like respiratory infections, digestive troubles, mental and emotional issues, physical pain, and much more. The goal of this dynamic and integrative healthcare system is to activate the body's natural, self-healing abilities and restore it to normal functioning. This is usually done by stimulating specific acupuncture points with small, sterile needles.
What are the most common treatment methods?
The most common method used to stimulate acupoints is the insertion of fine, sterile acupuncture needles into the skin. Other techniques, such as manual massage (Tai Na), moxibustion, cupping, heat therapy, electrical stimulation, or topical herbal medicines, can further enhance the effects of an acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture is a safe, painless, and effective natural approach to getting well.
What is Qi (Chee)?
At the core of this ancient medicine lies the philosophy that Qi, or vital energy, circulates throughout specific pathways in the body known as meridians. Qi helps to animate the body and protect it from illness, pain, and disease. A person’s health is influenced by the quality, quantity, and balance of Qi.
How does Qi travel?
Qi flows through 14 main meridian pathways. Each one is connected to specific organs and glands. Meridian pathways are like rivers. When a river flows, it transports life-giving water that nourishes the land, plants, and people. In the same way, meridian pathways transport life-giving Qi to nourish and energize every cell, organ, gland, tissue, and muscle. When Qi flows freely throughout the body, one can enjoy good physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
What can affect it?
An obstruction of Qi anywhere in the body is like a dam, backing up the flow in one area and restricting it in others. Obstructions can be caused by numerous factors, including physical and emotional traumas, stress, lack of exercise, overexertion, seasonal changes, diet, accidents or excessive activities. The obstruction can hinder the distribution of nourishment the body requires to function optimally. However, when the disruption of Qi is prolonged or excessive, or if the body is in a weakened state, then illness, pain, or disease can set in.
What will my acupuncturist do?
During your initial exam, a full health history will be taken. Your acupuncturist will ask questions regarding symptoms, health, and lifestyle. Your acupuncturist may also check your pulse and tongue and palpate specific areas to help further their diagnostic intake. This information is organized to create a complete, accurate, and comprehensive diagnosis to help alleviate your symptoms and signs and help you achieve your healthcare goals.
After your initial exam, you may receive acupuncture and other recommendations. Visits with your acupuncturist can last anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes.
How long are your appointments?
Our initial appointments are 90 minutes in length, during which we review systems, evaluate your tongue, pulse, and medical history, and address your primary concern. Follow-up treatments are 60 minutes.
Is acupuncture safe for children?
Yes, in some instances, children actually respond more quickly to acupuncture than adults. If your child has an aversion to needles, your acupuncturist may use gentle massage on the acupuncture points. This is called acupressure or Tui Na.
How many treatments will I need?
Treatment frequency and the number of treatments needed depend on several factors, including your constitution, the severity and duration of the problem, and the quality and quantity of your Qi. Some people experience immediate relief; others may take longer. Chronic conditions usually take longer to resolve than acute ones. They may suggest a specific number of treatments per week, monthly visits for health maintenance, or seasonal “tune-ups.”
Why do they want to look at my tongue?
The tongue acts like a barometer, reflecting the health and well-being of your internal meridian and organ system. As with the pulse, an acupuncturist will observe general characteristics of the tongue that show how your body is functioning on a macro level. Your acupuncturist will examine the color, shape, cracks, and coating of your tongue.
Why do they feel my pulse?
There are 12 pulse positions on each wrist that your acupuncturist will palpate. Each position corresponds to a specific meridian and organ system. An acupuncturist keenly observes the characteristics that reflect your overall health, such as pulse rate, strength, and “width” of each of your pulses. One of the benefits of pulse diagnosis is that it provides the acupuncturist with the ability to make a differential diagnosis, meaning they can pinpoint which imbalance is causing a particular symptom.
How safe is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is extremely safe. It is an all-natural, drug-free therapy, yielding feelings of relaxation and well-being. The risks of acupuncture are low when performed by a competent, certified practitioner using sterile needles. Side effects are relatively rare but can include soreness, minor bleeding, or bruising at the site of needle insertion.
What to expect?
Acupuncture needles are very small in diameter. They are approximately two times larger than the average diameter of a human hair and about 10 times smaller than the average diameter of a standard Western hypodermic needle. Many people avoid giving acupuncture a try because they think the needles may hurt. The sensation caused by an acupuncture needle varies. You may or may not experience a vague numbness, heaviness, tingling, or dull ache where the acupuncture needle has been inserted. Sometimes people experience a little discomfort as the needles are inserted or a sensation of energy spreading and moving around the needle. This is called “Qi sensation.” All these reactions are good, and a sign the treatment is working. After treatment, you may feel energized or may experience a deep sense of relaxation and well-being.
Why did my acupuncturist recommend herbs?
Herbs can be a powerful adjunct to acupuncture care. They are used to strengthen, build, and support the body, or to clear it of excess problems such as a cold, fever, or acute pain. To maximize the benefits of acupuncture, your acupuncturist may recommend starting with herbs and then incorporating acupuncture into your treatment in the future.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Write down and bring any questions you may have. Wear loose, comfortable clothing for easy access to acupuncture points. Avoid eating large meals immediately before or after your visit. Refrain from overexertion, working out, drugs, or alcohol for up to six hours after the visit. Avoid stressful situations. Make time to relax and ensure you get plenty of rest. Between visits, note any changes that may have occurred, such as the alleviation of pain, pain shifting to other areas, or changes in the frequency and type of symptoms.

Chinese Herbs General Knowledge

What to avoid when taking Chinese herbs?
In brief, when patients take Chinese medicine for any disorder, they should avoid raw, cold, greasy, spicy, barbecued, and fried oily foods.
How long does it take for Chinese herbs to start working?
The effects of the medicinal herbs typically take around 2-3 weeks to be noticeable. They build up strength within the body. As they are natural, they don't have side effects.
What time of day should I take Chinese herbs?
Our herbal practitioner will guide you when prescribing herbs; taking them half an hour before food is always best. Mealtimes are the perfect reminder. However, if you need to take Chinese herbs after your meal, that's okay, too.
Do Chinese herbs interact with medication?
Herbal medicines may affect the absorption of pharmaceuticals by altering gastrointestinal conditions, which can lead to changes in the bioavailability of drugs. This interaction may reduce the therapeutic effects by decreasing the bioavailability of the pharmaceuticals.

Other Modalities General Knowledge

What is Cupping?
Cupping is a therapy designed to stimulate the flow of blood and Qi within the superficial muscle layers. Cupping is used to treat various ailments, including sore muscles, tension, neck pain, and the common cold. In these small glass or plastic “cups” over specific areas on your body. A vacuum is created under the cup using heat or suction. The cups may be moved over an affected area or left in place. Slight red circles or bruising could form after the cupping treatment is finished. However, don’t worry - there's no need for alarm. The slight rise is expected to dissipate within a few days.
What is Tui Na?
Tui Na translates to “push grasp.” It is a massage technique that stimulates the flow of Qi in various parts of the body. Tui Na is used to relieve muscle pain, tension, and inflammation, as well as to aid in the healing of injuries.
What is Gua Sha?
Gua Sha is another technique used to release muscle tension, tightness, and constriction. A specialized tool is used to gently scrape or rub the skin over a problem area. This, too, may leave some slight redness, which will dissipate within a few days to a week.
What is Moxibustion or Moxa?
Moxibustion is a treatment that uses an herb called mugwort. It may be burned on the handle of the needle, above the skin, on salt, or on a slice of ginger. This is used to “warm” acupuncture points or areas to quicken the healing process.
What is Electro-Acupuncture or Estim?
Electroacupuncture is a treatment that involves the application of a pulsating electrical current to acupuncture points on the body. It is not actually transmitting a current through the body - only enough electrical stimulation for you to feel a slight pulsating sensation.

AromaTouch Technique General Knowledge

What is AromaTouch Technique?
AromaTouch Therapy combines the unique benefits of the human touch with the power of essential oils. The experience is about emotionally connecting with another person to form feelings of trust and create an overall wellness experience.
Can the AromaTouch Technique be performed on pregnAnt women?
A pregnant woman may find lying on their front uncomfortable; alternatives like side-lying or seated positions with slight posture adjustments to aid the receiver allow the entire technique to be still appropriately administered. If side-lying is also challenging, recipients can sit backward in a chair. Instead of working on the feet, we would perform the foot portion of the technique on the hands; however, we always recommend consulting with their physician. Essential oil use may not be recommended during pregnancy.
What if someone is sensitive to an AromaTouch oil?
Using oils other than the carefully chosen products as substitutes could alter the aromas created when applied. Rather than substituting products, we omit oils that are sensitive to. We use fractionated coconut oil on the skin during the AromaTouch Technique to prevent irritation and dilute any existing products that may be present on the skin.
How often can a person receive the AromaTouch Technique?
Individual responses vary but are limited to one complete technique per day. This allows time for the experience to be integrated.
Do I need to prep for an AromaTouch Therapy?
Yes, we ask our patients to arrive bathed and on time. During an AromaTouch, eight essential oils are applied to the neck, back, and feet. Drink plenty of water the day before to stay adequately hydrated and absorb the 100% organic, therapeutic-grade essential oils. We recommend that the oils be left on throughout the day to help balance and calm.

Bioenergetic Testing General Knowledge

Physical process of testing
The software contains digitally-encoded information relating to a large number of health-related factors. These range across anatomy and physiology, body chemistry, medicines, nutrients and pathogens, mental and emotional factors, metabolic processes, and more. During a test, a set of these ‘signatures’, chosen by the practitioner, are output in rapid succession by the hardware as electromagnetic signals. Using a simple and safe low voltage circuit formed by holding two brass cylinders, the response of the body to those signals is recorded. The response being measured is small changes in the electrical resistance of the skin. This information is relayed back to the software. A report is generated on the computer of any responses that are outside specific limits.
What is the nature of the information obtained ?
Running a test is an example of a process that we call bio-energetic testing. Bio-energetic (or just ‘energetic’) testing is effectively ‘asking the body-mind a question’ and obtaining the response directly from a physiological signal, without engaging the conscious and language centres of the mind. It is helpful to make some comparisons to other techniques that go part of the way towards this. Many people will be familiar with muscle testing or kinesiology. This is another form of bio-energetic testing applied by health practitioners. In kinesiology the question is often asked verbally or the subject may hold an object or substance that is being tested. The response is measured by changes in the contractile strength of the skeletal muscles, checked manually by the tester.

Another informative comparison is the phenomenon of ideo-motor response, which is used by hypnotherapists. When a subject is in a trance state, a set of pre-defined response patterns (e.g. raising one finger or another, which occurs without conscious effort) can be observed to obtain responses to questions about which the subject may have no conscious recollection. This method can be used to recover memories from non-conscious parts of mind.

These examples bear similarities, but bioenergetic testing goes one step further. The challenges or questions are presented a micropower radio signal output, rather than in words.

What really distinguishes the bioenergetic from manual methods and from many of the other devices on the market is the skill and experience that has been brought to bear over 30 years in collecting and refining the digital encoding methods and in improving the technology for recording responses. The latest system is able to run a very large number of tests in a few minutes and thereby build a broad picture of energetic functioning and responses in the client’s body.
What exactly is meant by “energetic” in the context of bio-energetic testing?
The word ‘energetic’ does not relate to energy in the strict sense that a physicist would mean it. Instead we are using the term loosely to refer to aspects of human functioning that are not just biomechanical (e.g joints, muscles and motion) and biochemical (e.g. nutrients, proteins, hormones and oxidation). The functioning of the human body is governed by informational signals. Some of these, such as the instructions for making proteins encoded in DNA are recognized by modern science. The epigenetic factors – how our experiences in life affect gene expression – are just beginning to be understood. It is likely that there are many other communication mechanisms at work that have yet to be explained scientifically. Biology is a very young science.

The existence of control mechanisms beyond genetic determinism is not seriously disputed by modern science, but its implications have not filtered through to medicine in practice. This is a result of resistance to change and because it is not yet clear how to employ the knowledge in systematic treatment programs. When we obtain responses from a bioenergetic testing device, the information is a mixture of commentary on the physical, chemical, emotional and mental state. Indeed, part of the skill of the practitioner of bioenergetic testing is to consider the information that comes from the system and decide how to recommend an individualized health and wellness program.
Is that the same as “bioresonance”?
‘Bioresonance’ is a term that should be used and interpreted cautiously, as it can be misleading. Resonance and frequency have simple and clear meanings in physics. In body-mind healthcare, where we are seeking to investigate the responses of living systems in a consultation environment, the response is not to a single ‘frequency’ but to a signal that is representative of, rather like language is representative of, physical items or concepts.

The response is individual and relevant at a point in time. We have not measured some physical property of the atoms or cells or microbes, but the response of the body-mind system to the signal. So a misleading use of the idea of ‘bioresonance’ would be to say something like: “this bacteria has a certain resonant frequency and we’ve picked that up in the body, so now we will treat you with that frequency to kill the bacteria”.

Hence, rather than the terms ‘resonance’ and ‘frequency’, we prefer the term ‘informational signatures’, as in truth the recorded and encoded signal would have to interact with the consciousness in a more complex way than can be explained by a single frequency or simple wave-form. Colloquially, it seems reasonable to talk about ‘resonance’ but its not strictly correct in a physics sense of the word.
Is the system a diagnostic device?
No, but let us be clear about definitions here. ‘Diagnosis’ is derived from a Greek word meaning to ‘discern or distinguish’. In the modern medical context, this means to take a set of symptoms presented by a patient and state that they fit better into the category for disease A, disease B or perhaps disease C. In this way the medical practitioner can choose appropriate treatment, and it is important that he gets it right because the treatment for disease A might have quite negative consequences for a disease B patient, especially if it is surgical.

Bioenergetic testing does indeed ‘discern’ only in that it records a completely individual set of responses to signals. This may assist a holistic practitioner in the approach that is characteristic of such disciplines: “treating the patient, not the disease”.  Information obtained may support you in making a traditional diagnosis, if that is something you are trained and licensed to do.
So what exactly do the results signify?
The one definite and unchanging aspect of interpreting the test results is as follows: if an item shows up as unbalanced (usually a red or yellow indication against the item in the displayed list), then that signals that among the potentially hundreds or thousands of items tested, the body gave an above or below average electrical resistance response. In different words, the body-mind system has indicated some kind of reaction to the item being tested and, along the lines of homeopathy and the Law of Similars, we can use that to ‘remind’ the organism to improve that particular aspect of homeostasis.

The bioenergetic test is identifying items to which the body / mind system can learn better adaptive behaviors. These items may be as diverse as foods, pathogens, emotional patterns, colors or nutritional and pharmaceutical agents.
Do test results correlate with symptoms?
The answer to this is ‘sometimes yes, sometimes no’, and it would be surprising if it was any other way. It is always reassuring for practitioners and clients if the test reports seem to confirm things that the client is reporting in the case history, perhaps even more so if it is things they have initially held back from telling the practitioner.

However, the real value of a bioenergetic testing  system is to reveal things that are not obvious – patterns that are able to help change the dynamics of the system. These, by definition, are not the symptoms themselves. They may be recognizable as things closely associated with a symptom, or they may be counterintuitive or apparently random.

A client’s state of health can be considered like a complex 3-dimensional form about which we can only ever see a 2-dimensional snapshot. When we combine multiple snapshots from different angles, we get a better impression of the overall shape.

When we want to help a client undo patterns of functioning that have been practiced for a lifetime and even supported by genes ‘switched on’ by environmental influence, the process can be seen as stripping away ‘layers’. Bioenergetic testing using the , especially using the Comprehensive Analysis at the heart of the system, reveals what that person is ready to process, and those may or may not correlate with the main symptom that the client is presenting. As we peel away more layers, different causative aspects of the health picture reveal themselves.
Are test results repeatable?
Rarely, if ever, will a test repeated two minutes later give the same set of responses as the first time. This is a critical point. As the system is revealing the response to informational signals, and response to information is instantaneous – the response to the same questions will be different if you run the test again. If you think about it, a question asked a second time is always different in context and how it is received and the response it provokes.

That’s not the same as saying that a physical parameter has changed, though the body responds constantly via PNIE. We might consider that a response has begun to the information revealed and an adaptation has begun. That adaptation may take a while to promote a noticeable physical change. Response may not occur at all initially, and sometimes feedback needs repeating or delivering in a new form due to the many forms of blockage we put up to change. The imprinted remedy helps with this process.

Comparisons to laboratory testing
: This page should make clear there is very little common to the methods of energetic testing and laboratory testing. Both have a role to play in healthcare. Lab testing is essential in acute medicine and often chronic patterns can be differentiated. Where using statistically-tested medicines or procedures, this is often necessary.

Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique General Knowledge

What is it?
  • B.E.S.T. is a holistic approach to healthcare that focuses on the mind-body connection.
  • It is a non-forceful technique, meaning it doesn't involve any sudden or forceful adjustments.
  • B.E.S.T. practitioners use their hands to stimulate specific points on the body and guide patients through specific breathing and thought patterns to help re-establish proper energy flow and balance.
How does it work?
  • B.E.S.T. aims to identify and address the root cause of imbalances in the body's systems, rather than just treating the symptoms.
  • Practitioners believe that stored emotional patterns can create energy blockages in the body, which can lead to physical and mental health issues.
  • By using specific hand placements and guided thought patterns, B.E.S.T. helps to release these blockages and allow the body to heal itself.
What are the benefits?
  • Improved nerve function and communication between the conscious and subconscious mind.
  • Reduced pain and improved functionality.
  • A more balanced and harmonious state of being.
  • A greater sense of self-empowerment and well-being.
  • B.E.S.T. is a gentle, painless, and non-intrusive method of treatment.
  • It can be used to address a wide range of physical, emotional, and mental health conditions.

Ear Seeds General Knowledge

What are Ear Seeds?
Ear seeds are made from Vaccaria seeds or metal pellets attached to latex and clear, latex-free tape. The specific points on the ear are stimulated, which is believed to be a microsystem of the entire body. There are points on the ear that correspond to various aspects of the body, ranging from emotional to physical and from internal organs to the tips of your fingers.
How long do I leave the ear seeds on for?
We recommend leaving the ear seeds in place for approximately five days. After five days, gently remove the device and wash it with soap and water to remove any adhesive and oils. After removing the seeds, allow the skin to rejuvenate for 8-24 hours before replacing them with fresh EarSeeds.
Do ear seeds hurt?
Ear seeds are applied to the ear with an adhesive. In most cases, the application is painless. The seeds or surgical steel ball can cause slight tenderness in the affected ear area. The most common discomfort is while sleeping with the head's weight placing added pressure on the ears, or during an emotional state. In those instances, gently remove the ear seed and rest.
Are Ear Seeds reusable?
The seeds and pellets, including the Swarovski crystal ones, are disposable and should not be reused.
The Ear Seeds Are Not Sticking Well On My Ear!
First, use the included tweezers to pinch just the corner of your ear seeds and touch as little of the tape as possible. Once the tape touches your ear, it cannot be moved and re-secured. It won’t stick well.
Next, be sure your ears are thoroughly cleaned and dry. Use an alcohol swab to clean the entire outer ear gently. Be sure your ears are completely dry before applying the ear seeds.
How Long Until I See Results?
Ear seeds have been shown to work immediately for some individuals with certain conditions, while for others, it may take up to a few weeks with multiple sessions. Listen to your body. Auriculotherapy is a single modality that can help, but it is not a magic pill.
Are There Any Side-Effects Or Contraindications?
If pregnant, please consult your doctor before using Ear Seeds.
If skin irritation occurs from the ear seeds, or if swelling should occur, remove the ear seeds immediately and contact your doctor if symptoms persist. The tan tape ear seeds contain latex and should not be used by those with a latex allergy.
Sometimes, when a point is “active,” the ear seed will make the ear feel sore, tender, and sensitive to touch. This is normal. If discomfort persists, you can remove the seeds and reapply later. This discomfort is different than a skin irritation. Some extremely sensitive people may occasionally experience slight nausea or dizziness upon application. This should disappear within the first few minutes after application.
Never place ear seeds inside the ear canal.
Ear seeds can be used with herbs and other ingestible medications without concern for contraindications.

Ionic Detox Foot Bath General Knowledge

What is an ionic foot SPA?
An ionic foot Spa, also known as an ionic foot bath, is a detox therapy that involves soaking your feet in a basin of warm, salted water while an electric current passes through it. This process is believed to generate positively and negatively charged ions which then interact with the body, attracting and neutralizing toxins. These neutralized toxins are then thought to be released through the pores of your feet into the foot bath.
What can be expected during an ionic foot BATH session?
During a session, the feet are submerged in warm water. Some people may feel a mild tingling or warmth in their feet. The water might change color, often to shades like brown, orange, or black. Some experts suggest that this color change could be due to the interaction of the ionization process with the water and the metal components of the foot spa.
What are the potential benefits of an ionic foot BATH?
Advocates suggest several potential benefits, including:
  • Removing toxins from the body
  • Promoting relaxation and stress reduction
  • Improving circulation
  • Alleviating fatigue and soreness
  • Enhanced immune function
  • Relief from pain, headaches, and allergies
  • Improved sleep quality
  • Better mental clarity and mood
  • Clearer skin
Are ionic foot Baths safe?
Ionic foot baths are generally considered safe for healthy adults. However, certain individuals should avoid them or consult with a healthcare professional before use:
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women
  • Individuals with pacemakers or other electrical implants
  • Individuals with epilepsy or uncontrolled seizures
  • Individuals with open wounds or skin conditions on the feet
  • Individuals with severe health conditions or those undergoing chemotherapy should also avoid them
How often should an ionic foot bath be used?
The ideal frequency depends on individual needs and goals. Some sources recommend starting with sessions 2-3 times per week, particularly when addressing specific health concerns. However, it is important not to over-detoxify the body. It's recommended to skip 1-3 days between sessions. For general well-being, a session every week or two may suffice.
What about the color change in the water?
While proponents suggest the color change indicates the release of toxins, critics contend that the color changes are primarily due to the interaction of the ionization process with the water and the metal components in the foot bath. Different colors are often associated with various organs or systems, and while intriguing, it's important to remember that these interpretations are not scientifically proven.

Kinesio Taping General Knowledge

What is kinesio taping®?
The kinesio Taping Method is designed to facilitate the body's natural healing process while allowing support and stability to muscle and joints without restricting the body's range of motion. Its used to successfully treat a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and medical conditions. Kinesio tape can be applied in hundreds of ways and has the ability to re-educate the neuromuscular system, reduce pain and inflammation, enhance performance, prevent injury and promote good circulation and healing, and assist in returning the body to homeostasis.
What should i do prior to application?
  • Skin should be dry and free of all oils, creams and lotions.
  • Excessive body hair may need to be trimmed and shaved.
What do i need to know to care for my application?
  • Gently rub the tape after applying to activate the adhesive.
  • Use precaution when putting on or taking off articles of clothing so that the edges of your application do not catch on the clothing. In cases with tight clothing such as socks, extra precautions should be used.
  • It is recommended that you wait a minimum of 30 -45 minutes before getting your application wet or participating in any vigorous activity.
  • Kinesio Tex Tape can be worn while bathing, showering, swimming, etc. When drying off, pat, or blot your application dry.
  • Do not place direct heat on your application including heating pads, hot packs, blow dryers, etc. This will result in the adhesive over-adhering to the skin and making your application difficult to remove.
What do i need to know about removing the application?
  • If cared for properly, your Kinesio Tex Tape application can be worn for minimum of 2-3 days.
  • Begin slowly removing the tape in the direction of hair growth.
  • Use one hand to remove the tape and the other hand to press against the skin.
  • Gently rubbing the skin after the application is removed can reduce sensitivity.
  • If preferred, you can also apply olive oil or baby oil to the application before removing. The oil will help breakdown the tape's adhesive propertied prior to removal.
  • Do not remove the tape too quickly as this can irritate the skin.

Low-Level Laser General Knowledge

How does Low-Level Laser (3LT®) work?
Photonic stimuli excite the body’s cells, infusing them with energy, with the three primary reactions being reduction of inflammation, cell function, and increased blood flow.
What is it used for?
The potential applications of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) are almost limitless; however, to date, Erchonia has received market clearance for the treatment of neck and shoulder pain, breast augmentation, acne, laser-assisted liposuction, and non-invasive body contouring. Erchonia continues to conduct clinical trials on other applications.
What is low-level laser therapy (3LT®)?
Low-level laser therapy is the use of low-intensity photonic energy as a treatment modality.
What are the benefits of low-lEVEL laser therapy?
Low-level laser therapy is a non-invasive, fast, and effective modality that has been proven in clinical trials to reduce pain, reduce edema, and promote healing.
How safe is low-level laser therapy (3LT®)?
Low-level laser therapy is generally safe; the only precaution is the use of special filtering glasses when a Class 3B laser is in use.
How deep into the tissue can laser light penetrate?
The depth of penetration is dependent on multiple factors, including mass and density. However, since low-level lasers have been proven in clinical studies to affect subcutaneous cells, the point is that they do penetrate, as opposed to heat lamp devices that do not.
What IS THE DIFFERENCE between pulsed vs. constant wave?
As their names imply, a constant wave is a continuous emission of laser energy, without disruption, for the length of time the device is ON. Pulsed wave is controlled by breaks in the wave interruption for the duration the device is on, at predefined and programmed intervals.
What is hertz as it relates to low-level lasers?
The predefined, controlled breaks in the laser emission, measured by the number of breaks per second, equals hertz.
Is low-level laser therapy painful?
No, most people do not feel anything.  For those that have reported a feeling, it is nothing more than a slight tingling.
How is low-level laser therapy administered?
The mechanics of administering low-level laser therapy are based on the indication for use; however, the general process involves holding the probe containing the laser diode(s) in place or gently moving it over the treatment area at a distance of anywhere from 4 inches to 12 inches.
How long does it take for the laser to heal or improve a condition?
This is dependent on the application; however, progress is immediately evident.
What’s the difference between Lasers vs. LED?
Erchonia 3LT devices utilize high-end, calibrated electric diodes, which are strictly measured within a tolerance of ±0.05 %.   LEDs are inexpensive, non-focused, wide-range light sources.   The primary difference is in performance and depth of penetration. Laser diodes penetrate, working subcutaneously; LEDs, on the other hand, affect the surface only.
Are there any conditions that would prevent me from low-level laser treatment?
There are no code-regulated contraindications; however, since there are no long-term evaluations for certain conditions, Erchonia does not recommend use in pregnant women or individuals with a pacemaker.
Does low-level laser therapy cause heat damage or cancer in the tissue?
No, low-level laser, by its design, is non-heat-producing and does not alter the cell structure. Laser irradiation is non-ionizing, meaning it does not generate ionizing radiation in the tissue.
Are there any side effects?
Some persons have reported a sense of deep relaxation that may cause drowsiness.
Are there any complications to the treatments?
There are no known adverse effects of low-level laser therapy that have been published.

Neuro Emotional Technique General Knowledge

What is Neuro Emotional Technique (NET)?
NET is a technique to identify, and help you let go of, "stuck" mind-body stress patterns. Stress responses such as fear, anger, grief and many others can sometimes negatively affect us long after the original event that caused them. When our body fails to "let go" of these responses we can find ourselves with unexplained aversions, self-sabotaging behaviors, destructive beliefs, phobias and many chronic physical problems.
Is NET safe?
Yes, NET is a safe, effective and natural way to instantly resolve long-standing health problems that have a mind-body stress component.
Does everyone have stuck stress patterns?
Yes, we've found this to be true. While our emotions bring richness to our lives, the residual charge of stuck stress patterns can diminish our health, negatively impact our relationships, and hinder our success.
Why are stuck stress patterns stored in the body?
No one knows for sure. Some stress responses don't properly resolve at times when our body's resistance is compromised. Our job is to identify these unresolved patterns and help you release them healthily.
Does NET take the place of psychotherApy?
No. Locating and resolving stuck patterns does not take the place of counseling, analysis or other types of therapy. Actually, many psychotherapy use NET in their practice.
Why are homeopathic remedies sometimes recommended?
Unresolved, long-standing negativity-charged patterns can often deplete or weaken affected tissues. Remedies can help promote healing and return of balance and harmony.

Pranic Healing  General Knowledge

What is Pranic Healing?
A complementary energy healing modality that uses life force (prana) to accelerate the body's natural healing. It's a structured, technical system, unlike more intuitive methods like Reiki, using specific protocols.
How does it work?
Practitioners "scan" the energy field (aura) and major energy centers (chakras) to find blockages or imbalances. They use techniques to cleanse the dirty energy and then energize the affected areas with fresh prana.
What to expect during a session:
You'll sit or lie down relaxed; belief isn't required, just lack of resistance. You might feel energy flow, deep emotions, or nothing at all; emotional releases (like crying) are normal.
Before & After a Session (Do's & Don'ts):
Before: Shower, wear loose clothing, no jewelry, leather, or silk.

After: Showering is generally avoided for 12-24 hours; stay hydrated, eat light meals (avoid red meat), rest, and avoid intense workouts or emotionally taxing activities.
Key principles:
Not a Religion: It's for people of all faiths, focusing on universal energy.
Complementary, Not Replacement: It works with, not instead of, medical treatment.
Distance Healing: Effective because energy isn't limited by physical distance, but the first session should be face-to-face.
