Our Beginnings Were Humble
The Place Called OM began as a quiet vision in 2015 when Dr. Oscar founded the clinic while studying at Naturopathic Medical School. Driven by a passion for natural healing, he laid the foundation for a space that would eventually grow into something much greater.
In 2018, Dr. Oscar met Dr. Jessica while they were both studying Oriental Medicine and working together in the clinic. Their shared love for holistic healing blossomed into a deeper partnership, and they married in February 2022. In May of that year, they learned they were expecting a child, but their son had his own timeline. He was born at just 24 weeks' gestation and spent four months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This experience stretched and strengthened them, deepening their compassion for those facing difficult medical circumstances.
In 2023, Dr. Oscar retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years of honorable service, concluding his military career as the Command Sergeant Major of a Training Support Battalion. His experience, discipline, and leadership continue to shape the heart of the veteran-owned clinic.
In 2024, life presented another challenge—Dr. Oscar was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition that caused debilitating symptoms. Thankfully, with the support of both Western and Eastern medicine, his condition has been stabilized, though it remains a challenge due to its critical effects. This experience has been humbling and has deepened their gratitude for all paths of healing. It has reminded them that we are all being guided on our healing journeys, and sometimes amid medical hardship, the most powerful thing one can do is pause, breathe, and pray for peace and guidance.
Today, The Place Called OM is a sanctuary for healing, compassion, and transformation. In addition to acupuncture and Chinese herbs, the clinic offers integrative services such as lab testing, holistic nutrition, microneedling, cosmetic acupuncture, Reiki, low-level laser therapy, detox foot baths, and bioenergetic testing. Dr. Oscar and Dr. Jess continue to serve with open hearts, committed to helping others find balance—naturally and wholeheartedly.
